Once upon a time, there were 10 brothers, each with individual talents and characteristics. None of them even looked like one another. One day, they helped the general public to build a wall enclosure around the city out of good graces. Because of it, the king questioned their motives and grew suspicious, leading to a rapid-succession of events.
"10 Brothers" is a traditional Chinese folklore. It's known in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Each has slight variations but the differences between the appearances and characteristics amongst the brothers make little difference because the main focus is on the concept of working together as one to create a successful outcome.
This story exemplifies the old proverb that "working as one can give you the power to break solid gold", depicting the importance of "unity" as well as the importance of brotherhood, companionship, and family values; all of which are some of the highest valued virtues in the Chinese culture.
Using the illustrator's depiction, each character is stranger, yet adorable, which allows children to use their imaginations to bring the story to life. This is an eye-popping work of art that must be read!
