Let’s Go to the Tortoise Country 到烏龜國去
By Liu, Hsu-Kung
◎A picture book that transcends cultural differences
When a rabbit meets a tortoise, is all that they can do race? Liu puts a modern twist on the classic parable of the rabbit and the tortoise to highlight and reconcile cultural differences. When the little rabbit enters the tortoise country, where a movie can last up to eleven hours and a meal means watching the tortoise sip juice for what feels like centuries, he is up for quite the culture shock. This book encourages the reader to open up their mind to different cultures and ways—hopefully, your child will fall in love with these differences the way the rabbit falls in love with the tortoise country. Every now and then, perhaps we need to think more like the tortoises: when you slow down, you're bound to notice things you couldn't see before.
