The Magic Egg features a set of tangram puzzles for young readers to rearrange into various bird figures. It offers an interesting story about a cast of colorful birds that find a magic egg in the wood. As the story develops, bird-shaped outlines invite young children to match the tangram pieces with them. Though solutions are provided at the back of the book, young children are encouraged to invent new shapes via their own imagination.
Not only is this activity fun for children, but it will also stimulate their visioperceptual abilities as well as hone in on their visual reasoning as they try to manipulate pieces into the right shapes. It will also activate mathematical knowledge of geometry, spatial reasoning, fractions, and the like.
What will the baby bird born from the magic egg look like? There are no limits for kids' imagination with these tangram puzzles!

About Lin, Shi-Zhen
Shi-Zhen Lin has enjoyed devoting her time to educational works for she likes children very much. She used to take care of little children and lead everyone to play together in her neighborhood. As soon as she entered college, she joined a volunteering club and spent her winter and summer vacations accompanying aboriginal kids, playing with them and also learning from them in a remote mountain area in Nantou. In her junior, she joined the Children's Center of a church, which conducted weekly outreach activities to tell stories for the patients at a children's hospital. In her senior year, she worked at a children theatre, where she learned about body language skills and developing imagination as a storyteller catered to the young. She has always enjoyed teaching kids above all. Another book of hers, Who Is Your Best Friend, is also published by Hsiao Lu.
